Annual Membership Meeting Notice – Sunday May 19th
Aloha,
Malama O Puna is hosting its Annual Membership Meeting on Sunday May 19th at Noon to 2:00pm at ‘the Stables’ at 15-879 Kahakai Blvd. Our guest speaker is Keone Kalawe who will speak on the history and importance of the Wai’ele parcel located on the Puna Coast north of Cape Kumukahi. Malama O Puna advocated for the County’s Open Space Program (PONC) to purchase this property (Dec. 2021) and is participating in stewardship activities for this 157 acre parcel that abuts the Kahuwai ahupua’a to the north. Keone is a lineal descendant of this parcel.
At the annual meeting, we will also be electing some new board members. The term is two years so we have four continuing board members and are electing five board members at this meeting as our bylaws allow for up to nine members. We have two board members who are returning for another two years, and three new board candidates from different areas of Puna Makai and Puna Mauka.
